Why Mental Fitness Coaching? 

 

Mental fitness means keeping your emotional health and brain in good shape. Just as physical fitness develops muscles that help you function better in your day-to-day life and enjoy active recreation, mental fitness helps in the same way. 

Strong mental muscles can move you from floundering to fantastic. When you are mentally fit, the way you interact with the world is different. You have more control of your mind and are able to pause and respond in the way you would like, in the moment, whether that situation is a forethought, an external stimulus, or a feeling.  You are choosing how to be in that circumstance, rather thinking unconsciously or defaulting in to automatic negative thoughts that are unhelpful in the current situation.   

In my coaching I use the Positive Intelligence® (PQ) program as a platform for learning and practicing mental fitness. The PQ program is based on the work of  Shirzad Chamine. Shirzad is the author of the New York Times bestselling Positive Intelligence and has lectured on Positive Intelligence at Stanford University and Yale business school.  His PQ work is a synthesis of the latest breakthroughs in neuroscience, cognitive and positive psychology, and performance science along with his own discovery of the core factors that impact both performance and wellbeing. I began training with  Shirzad in 2021, and will be certified in PQ coaching in 2022.
